Checkmate! A new award ceremony and a new win!
We all congratulate Roman Fida with his astounding achievements!
This glamourous, ritzy and glitzy event took place on 22 April 2021 at the Loop Roof Cocktail Bar and Garden in Melbourne CBD. This award night was especially special and glamourous because only Melbourne’s VIPs received invites to gather for the evening to honour Roman Fida, MARQUIS’s‘Man of the Year 2020/21. Roman is a prominent lawyer, Senior Law Lecturer at Victoria University, Principal of TBJ Law, PhD doctoral candidate, husband, and father of three. It was the night to be etched in the minds and hearts of all VIPs in attendance for the ceremony was sophisticated, stylish and uber high class!
How it all started...
At the beginning of 2021, an idea floated around in our writer’s general meetings to feature a high achiever in the Australian community but who was under recognised. The criteria for this exclusive feature was to be that this person would have achieved so much in his/her life but was somehow media shy or that he/she had managed to evade from our attention!
Coincidentally, our Editor in Chief Doctor Natasha Marcheva was still in contact with Alexander O. Montgomery (who was journo for our publication but had since left the industry to become a lawyer). Through their conversations, Doctor Natasha learnt that Alexander had the extremely fortunate blessing of being Roman's Law protege. Alexander shared with us lots of wonderful stories about the progress of his studies including receiving instructions and supervision from a very handsome, highly intelligent, and powerful lawyer in Melbourne’s Supreme Court. This person was also a great lecturer at law in one of Melbourne’s Universities.
Alexander told of this amazing but media shy personality that instantly caught our attention. According to Alexander, Roman commands an extraordinarily special presence with his high energy, charisma, confidence, and stature. Roman’s approach when lecturing, instructing, or supervising his students is astonishing where Roman supervises his pupils in the very challenging and hard work of researching and mastering major legal areas such as Criminal Law, Criminal Procedures and Contract Law. Honouring Roman's consistent hard work to all his students (past and present), Alexander suggested the idea to create something special in return for this special man. We were intrigued! This man sounded really fascinating. We had to schedule for an appointment to meet Roman!
We learnt that apart from the University lecturing, tutorials, supervision and setting of exams which besiege Roman’s career at Victoria University, Alexander also spoke about Roman being a Principal at his law firm - TBJ Law.
Alexander was right after all! During on-going discussions and meet ups with our marketing team initially for an advertisement spot from TBJ Law in our magazine, we were so easily impressed by Roman’s credentials and achievements that we were instantly convinced that Roman was this under recognised but very well deserving to be recognised Australian after all! Roman is this very much deserving person of being exclusively featured in our publication! Roman was to be our cover feature for our May issue and Roman was to be awarded with the MARQUIS ‘Man Of The Year Award’!
Cover Feature and Honoring Roman Fida...
We were excited! We decided that the best way to celebrate this exclusive feature on Roman for his cover reveal and award night ceremony was to throw a highly and sophisticated private event for Roman. Only Melbourne’s elite such as VIPs within Roman’s special circle would be invited to attend to honour Roman's life achievements on all levels. Preparation for Roman’s special night went into full swing and overdrive almost immediately! Door gifts, artwork design, media wall preparations, red carpet, lights, camera, action! Auditions were immediately held to select the right emcees for the night. A casting call was held for the job of ‘red carpet presenter’ for the night! Photographers, wardrobe preparations, hair, make up artists, gown designers and sponsors, venue, food and drinks! This award night took months of preparation, energy and time involving every team member from MARQUIS. It was also such a lovely experience to be supported also by a group of Roman's friends. Many great ideas were born in conversation and exchanged on how to do things in their best possible way!

Guests, all dressed in cocktail attire started to arrive closer to 0600pm on April 22nd. The ladies gowns and men's outfits were sparkling, astonishing and unique in their inside out appearance but so were the VIP guests who wore them! The night officially started at 0700pm and was glamorously decorated with lots of black-white-and-gold colour balloons, media wall and red carpet prepared for the photos and VIP guests arrivals. The drinks and canapés were served and kindly offered to all. The choice for the background music was amazing and Alexander wisely coordinated the whole event. Ashton, the event’s glamorous co-emcee interviewed guests on Asi's camera while the photos were taken by Erkin and Gary at the red carpet and media wall. Ashton also interviewed Roman, Elizabeth and Roman's family.
Misha, the co-emcee and Ashton on stage leading the crowd for a spectacular evening announcing the commencement of the event. The ceremony was inaugurated right after welcoming all VIP guests and announcing the main Man of the Event - ROMAN FIDA! The emcees presented Elena who spoke on behalf of Marquis Fashion Magazine on stage about Roman and on his achievements. Misha and Ashton then welcomed Roman on stage. Roman gave a speech thanking everyone for attending the event. Elena crowned Roman with his award - a sparkling crown made of gold and accorded Roman with the chain of Honour around his neck. Roman's trophy was also presented to him. The guests applauded and congratulated Roman. After Roman’s delightful speech, VIPs formed a queue to get Roman’s autograph on his magazine cover followed by another crown waiting for Roman to have their photos taken with him at the red carpet!
We all wished the evening would never end but it was time for all of us to go home, thanking everyone and giving people who organised it time and opportunity to rest after hours of hard work and running around with preparations which started at 5.30 am that morning! We hope all invited VIPs enjoyed this momentous night with their friends, and made lots of new acquaintances and important, valuable contacts during the night!

Good evening to the honourable Roman Fida, to all specially invited guests, members of the media, Ladies and Gentlemen.
My name is Elena and I am very thrilled and excited to be with you all here tonight.
I am the Styling Director at Marquis Fashion Magazine, and I speak on behalf of our Editor in Chief, Doctor Natasha Marcheva. This amazing woman, who I also call my friend prefers to work behind the scenes although she is here with us.
Tonight, we are gathered to celebrate and to honour an outstanding individual in our society. This incredible man is none other than Roman Fida! Tonight, we honour Roman with the highest of awards ever given out by our publication, the MARQUIS Man of the Year 2020/2021!
Ladies and Gentlemen, please put your hands together to give our Man of the Year Roman, a huge round of applause!!

Some people come into our lives for a reason while others for a season. But when Roman comes into our lives, he stays with us and never quite leave. His selfless contributions to all, that he has given to so many over the years, stay with us forever.
When our advertising team first met with Roman, it was supposed to be a business meeting for an advertisement spot which his law firm was to advertise in our magazine. However, as our understanding of Roman as a person evolved, we also got to learn what a special and amazing man that he truly is!
Over the years, our publication has met with impressive people however with Roman, he is more than impressively impressive. His incredible wit and intellect, his multiple successes in his young life, his outstanding credentials, his gorgeous looks, but most of all, it is his giving heart that takes our breath away!!
Throughout the years, Roman gave and gave. He gave to everyone who needed help. He gave without expectations and changed so many lives for the better.
As a Senior Law Lecturer at Victoria University, Roman leads the First Year College of Law. He gives so much of his time and effort to his law students and staff at the University. They learn and benefit so much from him.
As Principal to his team of legal eagles at his law firm, Roman is a wonderful mentor and a father figure to which they look up to.
To his clients, Roman gives his ear without judgement. Roman gives his best and achieve great outcomes in their matters for which these clients are grateful.
Roman gives so much to his family. He gives all his love to his stunning wife Elizabeth of 15 years, and to their 3 wonderful children, daughter Talia and twin boys Braydon and Jay.
Roman gives to charity. Roman gives free legal representation to the vulnerable and to the weak. Roman also gives his invaluable legal advice to non-profit organisations where he sits on its board of directors.
And tonight, for what Roman have always done for others from the sheer goodness of his heart, we give him something back.
Tonight, we award Roman the Super Hero with the highest of honours ever given out by our publication, the MARQUIS Man of the Year award 2020/2021.
I would now like to mention a few names and express our sincere appreciation to our talented cast and crew for their involvement, hard work and dedication. You guys have put in so much work and effort towards our exclusive feature on Super Hero Roman, who is also our Cover Model for the May issue of MARQUIS magazine.
