HISTORY AND PURPOSE
The ASEAN Fashion Designers Showcase was established by Singapore fashion designer, Hayden Ng, on 8 August 2015 as a collective whose key Mission is to raise awareness of and appreciation for ASEAN’s unique and diverse fashion and design. Through this collective, the establishment seeks also to promote greater cross-cultural and creative collaboration.
ASEAN seek to achieve mainstream regional awareness for fashion designers and models nurturing up-and-coming, local fashion designers and models. The organization wants to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the fashion industry in the ASEAN region. They aim to mentor fashion designer students, so that they can find their design direction in the near future.

BRUNEI
FADZIL HADIN
Dubai based fashion designer, Fadzil Hadin was born in Brunei and was introduced to fashion at a very young age. His mother’s clothing atelier, CHANTIQUE, had a great influence on Fadzil’s life and that’s what made him pursue a career in fashion design.
The year 2017 witnessed Fadzil Hadin taking over as creative director and fashion designer from his mother. He then introduced the label to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
In July 2018, CHANTIQUE received the prestigious ‘Modest Fashion Award‘ by The Islamic Fashion and Design Council in Torino , Italy and also during the same year showcased the first ever modest fashion show called ‘ Modest Soirée” at Milan Fashion Week 2018.
Fadzil Hadin is an esteem pioneer member and fashion ambassador of the ASEAN Fashion Designer Showcase representing Brunei Darussalam.

CAMBODIA
NATACHA VAN
Natacha Van has emerged as a leading global talent based in Cambodia with a distinctively feminine aesthetic. Through merging classic evening gown elements with an uptown chic attitude she has created a supremely womanly and unapologetically glamorous sensibility.
"I create clothing for women who are not only fiercely fashionable but also own their power and femininity," explained Natacha. "But the heart of my collection will always be the craftsmanship; everything starts from my obsession for details."
Since debuting her Ready-to-Wear Collection in 2010, Natacha has been dedicated to making clothes that were as beautifully crafted from inside out. With the focus on couture quality craftsmanship, over 90% of the Natacha Van Collection is manufactured in London. The materials used for her
collection are 100% handcrafted in London / Hong Kong using the highest quality materials and construction.
She is influenced by many sources including the classic fairy-tale photography of Tim Walker, and also fashion designer works of Charles James and Jacques Fath. She also finds inspiration on her travels to Asia and Europe as well as fairy-tales, Greek myths and style inspired mostly by natural forms.
She moved to the UK when she was 13 where she began learning how to sew, draft patterns, and sketch in fashion proportions by using dolls as mannequins. After spending her senior year of high school in Hong Kong Reading art and textile, Natacha moved to London and enrolled in London College of Fashion to study women's wear, fashion styling, and photography. Her collection is sold around the world. Her dresses are presently at many exhibition and fashion show around the globe.
In 2013 she had her first fashion show in Bangkok, Thailand. In 2014 she had her collection show on 'fashion illumination' one of the biggest fashion show in Cambodia. Later that year, Natacha was appointed as an Artistic Director in fashion TV called “Cambodia’s Next Top Model” where she did
some photo-shoots and used her Ready-to-Wear collection for the show.

I was inspired by the royal elegant dark age and the way floral patterns are beautifully combined with geometric elements. The influence of shape and proportion can be seen in wrapped bodices and sloped sleeves.
3. What role do you think social media plays in fashion today?
The fashion industry in particular has changed dramatically due to social media, and savvy business owners utilize social media to grow their businesses. Social media has done a number of incredible things for the fashion industry, including creating fashion icons, heavily influencing fashion trends, and ultimately reforming the way people go about seeking jobs in the field.

CHINA
GU A XIN
• Yang Chun Lin, famously known as Gu A Xin is a China entrepreneur, and fashion designer who was born on 15th March 1989.• This award-winning designer is a native of Miao Village in south eastern Guizhou Province.
• Gu A Xin - the name given by his father, has both a Miao and Chinese meaning to it - "Gu A Xin" means "hope" in Miao and in Chinese accent means Gu A Xin directly.
• A Xin's father registered the "Gu-A- Xin" clothing company, in hope that "Miao" elements of clothing to be passed on to the new generation of young people. Unfortunately, due to his father’s illness, the company did not start operation after starting the company.
• During A Xin first year in college, he always tried to find things that he could create and sell, he and his friends set up a street stall selling Miao
Village crafts and launched the Gu-A-Xin brand, featuring Miao village special products, silver jewellery, handicrafts, and some upcycled readymade
garments incorporated with Miao village traditional elements. Unhappy with these ready-made garments, it sparked off the artistic and creative side of A Xin, propelling him to design his own garments and gradually transforming the street brand into a well-known and popular local brand.
• A Xin is not a design major. He graduated from Xi’an University with a major in journalism, and because of the natural acumen of journalism, it
made it easier for him to edge out the difference between Gu-A-Xin and other China clothing brands.
• His forte is Miao embroidery - exaggerated, bold, and abstract. It is full of imagination of the mysterious world of dragon and phoenix, traditional auspiciousness, fishes, deer, longevity and wealth, auspicious beasts, blessing peace, butterflies, and children just to name a few. He hopes that this will make more people to aware of the beauty of Miao embroidery, and this also enables Miao women with the skills to be able to pick up the embroidery needle again to create a livelihood for their families.
• In 2008, Gu A Xin won the Silver Award of Guizhou Intangible Cultural Heritage. In 2009, Gu A Ain won the "Colourful Guizhou" Skilled Craftsman Gold Award. In 2011, Gu A Xin developed the men's cotton and linen embroidery series and won the National Embroidery Award Silver Award. In 2012, Gu A Xin won the top 20 of Shaanxi Innovation Competition.
• In 2013, Gu A Xin was invited to Dragon TV's "Dream Cube Program" and in 2014, opened stores in Xi'an Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Beijing Qianmen, Shanghai Tianzifang and many other places. In 2015, he participated in the financial channel "Dream Next Stop" and won the Dream Fund Card, which was well received by entrepreneurs.
• Gu-A-Xin style is one that most people can connect with, not only it is classy, but traditional too. It is funky and chic. Many celebrities and people love his designs.

• LIN HUI is the Design Director of the LiangZuang brand. She is chief promoter and avid supporter of Gambiered Canton Gauze (GCG).
• LIN HUI hails from Macau and was educated in Guangzhou. She also did study programmes in Paris, France and is now based in Shunde Lunjiao, the supply origin of GCG.
• Her passion for GCG has spanned 20 years since the day she discovered the simple yet elegant fabric. Since then, she resolved to dedicate her life to create modern fashion pieces with an oriental touch using GCG fabric.
• When the Hereditary Board saw her cutting-edge GCG designer pieces, she was tasked to lead the LiangZuang team in the Silk Route Artistic Fund Show 2019 to exhibit their creations overseas.
• In 2019, LIN HUI and her team won the Silk International Fashion Week Award for New Work, for their modern take on the fabric.
• Following that, they were invited to be part of an entourage of the National Artistic Fund delegation and travelled to Mongolia, Russia, Italy, and various countries to spearhead China’s hereditary culture.

INDONESIA
ALDRI INDRAYAN
Aldri’s fashion journey began in Sydney, Australia where he studied fashion business at The Fashion Institute Sydney.
During his time there, Aldri did his internship at Carla Zampatti, Gary Bigeni,
Bianca Spender and Ermenegildo Zegna. After graduation and completion of his internship, Aldri returned to Indonesia.
In 2013, Aldri went on to do a short course on pattern making, creative fashion design with illustrator and digital print on textile at Central Saint
Martin, University of London. Upon completion of the courses, Aldri returned to Indonesia and started work as an engineer at PT. Siemens Indonesia in the Fall of 2013.
Aldri soon realise that his calling was in fashion and in May 2014, he established his eponymous label – ALDRIE. His debut collection was womenswear and paying tribute to his engineering degree, his collections are influenced based on that, in the form of digital
textile print.
Fall 2015, he introduced menswear into his collections and since then, menswear has been a staple in all his works.
Aldrie is all about quality, design, and comfort. Simple but yet abundance in details.
Each detailing carefully experimented and chosen to create a magnificent quality to these out of the box pieces of design.
In 2015, Aldri was one of the finalists, representing Indonesia in the ASEAN Youth and Creative Fair Competition.
In 2018, he was chosen as Indonesia’s representative to The Sakura Collection in Japan. In 2019, Aldri took a more sustainable approach to design and has collaborated with many high-profile artists and illustrators like APR, Cota Cota Studio and on//off official and many other more.
Aldri is an esteem member and fashion ambassador of the ASEAN Fashion Designer Showcase representing Indonesia.

DIBYA HODY
Hailing from, Surabaya, Dibya Hody is an Indonesian fashion designer born on 14th July, 1973. After graduation from Atma Jaya University, Jakarta in 2003, Dibya returned to Surabaya, Here he got a chance to work in the local fashion industry and that is when Dibya’s love for fashion developed and he has never looked back since then.
Dibya is one designer that does not go by the trends, but does what he thinks is right. In 2014, Dibya opened this company – INTERIM Clothing Company, a platform for young local designers to put their creativity into the fashion line, where he hold the realm as its Creative Director.
As the Creative Director, Dibya oversees the entire design and production process, ensuring it creates a modern look with touches of Indonesian ethnic fabrics throughout the collection of ready to wear styles for today’s women.

Dibya is one designer that does not go by the trends, but does what he thinks is right. In 2014, Dibya opened this company – INTERIM Clothing Company, a platform for young local designers to put their creativity into the fashion line, where he hold the realm as its Creative Director.
As the Creative Director, Dibya oversees the entire design and production process, ensuring it creates a modern look with touches of Indonesian ethnic fabrics throughout the collection of ready to wear styles for today’s women.

EKO TJANDRA
EKO TJANDRA
Eko Tjandra is an Indonesian designer who has a deep love for Indonesia's traditional cultural heritage. His name may not be as famous as other designer beauty pageants, but his work in the world of beauty pageants has long made achievements for Indonesia.
Born in 1982, Eko Tjandra is a native of the Bojonegoro region. When Eko was in high school, he was influenced by his classmate’s mother, who offered to teach him sewing. That was his starting point into the world of fashion design. Before becoming a professional fashion designer, the young Eko Tjandra was a stage singer. In 2010, he and his business partner, Mas Tjandra, agreed to establish their fashion brand - Olanye by Eko Tjanda. Eko is the collection designer while Tjandra is in charge of marketing. The two men were originally friends in the TVRI singing competition and the friendship that started 8 years ago, developed into the fashion business because both Eko and Tjandra have an interest in the world of fashion.
The Olanye label was founded in 2010. This name was taken because both of them like the color orange. With the aim of creating a label named catchy, came the word transformation into ``Oranye` Olanye. Eko and Tjandra founded Olanye at first not specifically for stage costumes, but for cocktail dresses. Everything changed since Olanye's stage costume was worn by Hudson, who was then a participant in the Indonesia Looking for Talent contest.
The entry of Olanye's stage costume design into the entertainment world then brought Eko and Tjandra a special interest in stage costumes. Eko admitted that he became increasingly interested in making st age costumes that were more unique. “When designing costumes with character I
feel incredibly happy. I really prefer something decorative.” said the designer who was not satisfied enough when working on ready-to-wear clothes.
In 2013 Eko Tjandra was introduce to the world of beauty pageants through Miss Scuba Indonesia, this is where Eko Tjandra entered the world of beauty pageants, he started making evening gowns and national costumes for the pageants.
In the Miss Scuba International 2013 event in Malaysia, Indonesia, represented by Nadhira Ulya Suryadi, made it into the top 5 and won the best national costume with the Minangkabau theme. And continued in the following year 2014 through the same event Rima Demensah won the best national costume. A tittle that Eko Tjandra won back to back. The national costume is a modification of the Tapanuli South-North Sumatra costume with the theme "Batak Mandailing".
The Best National Costume for Miss Earth 2014 for the Asia region was presented by Anissa Ananda Nusyirwan (Miss Earth Indonesia 2014). This national costume is a modification of West Sumatra culture with the theme "The Glory Of Sparkling Minang". Best National Costume Supermodel International 2014 was presented by Sophia Fionnita (Supermodel Indonesia 2014) with the theme "The Enchanting Princess of Borneo".
Best National Costume Miss Eco Universe 2016 was presented by Olvah Alhamid (Miss Eco Universe Indonesia 2016 and Top 5 Puteri Indonesia 2015). This costume takes the theme of Bird of Paradise with various meanings in each element of the national costume. The headpiece symbolizes the Honai of the traditional Papuan house, the wings on the right and left are made long with a length of 1.25m. The clothes that Olvah wears are made of gold-colored materials, symbolizing Papua which is rich in natural resources. Black orchids on the right and left sides of the chest, want to introduce to the world that black orchids are the most expensive flowers and come from Papua. Tifa musical instruments are traditional instruments on the right and left hip where Papua is rich in arts and culture. Bird of Paradise in hand symbolizes the beauty of Papua, which we must protect and preserve the population.
In 2016 Eko Tjandra made evening gowns for Dikna Faradiba at Miss Tourism International, and the two of them returned to the conversation with different evening gowns with fringes or tassel motifs.
Later in 2016, Eko Tjandra dressed the Indonesian representatives in Eko Tjandra's design with a Lampung tapis cloth motif for the Olympics.
In 2018, Eko Tjandra became the official designer for Miss Supranational 2018 - Wilda Oktaviana Situngkir who won 3rd runner-up and best supermodel.
In 2020, Eko Tjandra developed a ready collection to wear collection with a touch of traditional Indonesian fabrics and

HANNIE HANANTO
Hannie Hananto started her Muslim fashion business in 2006 and she is very active in many fashion events in Indonesia and other countries.
In 2006, Hannie’s fashion design career took off, after winning 2nd place at the 1st LRBM (Lomba Rancang Busana Muslim) by Noor Magazine.
In 2011, she participated in a fashion show in Paris. 2013, Hannie did a fashion show in New York and later the same year, a showcase in Morocco, where she also conducted a hijab tutorial at the Indonesia Embassy. 2014, Hannie was at the ASEAN Ladies Coffee Morning at KBRI Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and designed for "The Executive" the biggest brand in Indonesia for Indonesia Fashion Week project 2014.
ANEMONE is a collection of dresses, tops, pants, skirts, scarves, handmade bags and accessories, which is perfect for day to evening, inspired by modern day, architectural and geometrical with the creative use of black and white colours. Occasional use of Indonesian touches like Tenun and Indonesian motives are also infused into the line.
