Miss World Australia 2018 Beauty Pageant was full of fun excitement and definitely lots of glitz and glamour. Thanks to Bohemian Rhapsody and Natasha Marchev I had the wonderful opportunity to fly from Melbourne with my media team Prad and Riya from P TV Melbourne to do media coverage and interviews at the Palazzo Versace Gold Coast. We had the opportunity to meet and talk with many well known personalities and celebrities like Brooke Hanson, Ashy Bines, Alex Adams and Richard Reid to name just a few. And of course the very famous Deborah Miller - National Director Miss World Australia. Having always been on stage or backstage , being a front row VIP viewer gave me a completely different perspective.
To say the least it certainly brought back a lot of memories. Having been Mrs India Worldwide Australia 2016 I could certainly relate to all the nerves and excitement the contestants were going through. The event started of as always with the red carpet and lots of cameras clicking away.
Former Miss World Australia 2017 Esma Voloder was definitely the paparazzi's favourite. The main event followed after a three course dinner. The show started off with a bang in a very fun and flirty choreographed routine showcasing the sponsors.
After which the 30 contestants came in groups and introduced themselves. All the contestants went through a few different rounds of pre-selection leading up to the main event. They were judged on everything from fitness to personality to how much money they raised from charity. Which then narrowed them down to the top 10 contestants. The top 10 were then judged by the esteemed judges, on presentation, personality, beauty and most importantly "the question and answer" round.
It was as always a very close call and the beautiful and most deserving girl was crowned Miss World Australia 2018 - Taylah Cannon. My colleague Riya Vats from P TV Melbourne was also delighted to be part of such beautiful and meaningful Beauty Pageant and she says that it resonates with "Beauty with Purpose” title which was indeed the true essence of the Miss World Australia Finals 2018. Whether it was the varying skills and background that the participants had, ranging from a human rights lawyer to a college student or the vision each of these women have, to make a positive impact on the world including welfare for animals and empowering men and women, across the land to the staggering amount raised for the variety charity by the contestants. It was a night to celebrate the confidence, passion and determination of these young women who faced various challenges, extending from sports to talent rounds to be able to make it to the finals.
To say the least it was an extremely eventful and entertaining night, the audience was continuously amused with some graceful dance performances, numerous quirky ramp walks and a fine dining experience at the Palazzo Versace.
