Wild Seas, Secret Shores at the Arts Centre was an evening not to be missed.
The night was hosted by Thomas Peschak, a marine biologist turned National Geographic Photographer.
The event was held at The Arts Centre in Melbourne CBD and bought a sell out crowd. It was great to see so many people of varied ages in attendance.
Thomas spoke about his upbringing and what first made him want to become a photographer. It was only 15 years ago he was working as a marine biologist and was wanting to make a greater difference to the world. He found a tool that spoke louder for him and the marine world was his use of documenting and photographing his work for people to see instead of working with pen and paper.
It was this change that brought him change and he joined forces with National Geographic.
Thomas's work has been featured numerous additions of National Geographic and even made headlines for his famous image of a shark following his assistant in a Kayak.
The stories that Thomas told were accompanied by a large screen behind him displaying the beautiful imagery of the countless adventures he has been on. There were even videos showing a behind the scenes look at how he captured some of his best photographs yet.
If you ever get the chance to experience a talk with Thomas Peschak I highly recommend it. It was an awe inspiring night and even made me think differently about the ocean and its many worlds within
