The Play That Goes Wrong

Never have I ever laughed so much with so many people in a theatre !
From the moment you enter the lobby of the Roslyn Packer Theatre in Sydney's CBD you are greeted by characters from the play ushering you in. It is the perfect welcome and makes you feel like you are really a part of everything that is about to happen.
There is a bar where you can enjoy a glass or two of your favourite drink before entering the theatre and laughing your heart out.
The play actually begins whilst the audience are walking into the theatre and it gives a laid back approach and again includes the audience as a part of the play. An audience member is invited on stage to help hold a part of the set together and sweep the stage before the play officially starts.
The characters performing on stage break the fourth wall and talk to the audience and a character playing a stage/tech manager up in one of the boxes in the audience. It adds to the whole audience interaction of the play and makes you look around the theatre and feel completely immersed in the story.
Within the first five minutes panels are falling off the set and the crowd is already in tears laughing to the mishaps of the characters.
The play commences with the discovery of a dead body and the corpse is one of the funniest characters within the entire play! Who would have thought? It is the comedy of a corpse being dropped and trodden on and the character playing him reacting human when he is meant to be dead that sets the crowd off in hysterics.
It is not often that you see a play where every character has you on the edge of your seat exploding with laughter and this play has somehow done that! I think it comes down to the wonderful casting of the actors who portrayed the characters. They all worked so amazingly together and their energy was just contagious. At moments it felt like they were trying so hard not to laugh along with the crowd.
The set was just perfection, there would not be one thing I would change about it. Throughout the play there are things breaking, smashing, falling, burning, flying and jumping you never know what part of the set will be surprising you next. In a way the set is another character as it is constantly evolving with the storyline and breaking apart. There is an epic finale you just have to see to believe.
The comedy throughout the show is relatable to people of all ages and I would recommend the show to anyone 18+ who is looking for a fun filled night of forgetting everything and simply having a good old jolly laugh. If you are a fan of old British tv shows then the comedy is for you as I could draw many comparisons and loved it.
This is a show you definelty don't want to miss, everyone needs a laugh!
