EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH MICHEL RICHARD, A NEW DIRECTOR OF AFDM
website
Presenter / Multimedia Journalist: Bryanna Reynolds at REYNOLDS SISTER PRODUCTIONS
We had a great pleasure to interview Michel Richard last year just before the release of French Classics Film Festival at Astor Cinemas. Michel kindly invited our crew to the St Kilda grand residence of AF. The footage was lost in the hands of our film maker but finally put together by our editor, Glen Wilson. My personal associations with AF started long time ago when our daughter Masha started learning French and coming to weekly classes to the St Kilda building. The unique atmosphere, wine and cheeses played its role in Masha's love to French language and her love of French writers and philosophers whose books she started to read in abundance. Marcel Proust was among them ("The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands but seeing with new eyes.") Then French Theater ran by Michael Bulla went into attention and replaced the French classes. I have to admit that Masha's French was the best at her school and this was a result of her close association with French people that she found through the Alliance Francaise. This was my personal memories and personal associations that I had apart from annual and absolutely gorgeous art exhibitions that we still continue to visit at AF. If you do not know but love one national culture, the best way to learn about it is through engaging with its people and learning its history and art. Please also note that there is a beautiful French Theater still working in association with AF and their theater productions are amazing, professional and done on the highest level (they are run with English subtitles which means anyone can understand and enjoy the intelligent plays). To add to the picture (but not making it complete of course as there are some many activities that the AF is involved into that we will not have enough paper and ink to describe it here) AF also gives its wings to the Film Festivals in Australia. That includes the annual AF French Film Festival usually run at the beginning of the year and there is a new addition that is run closer to the spring season and it is called French Classics. The latter we will be talking about with Michel Richard and Michel will kindly tell us about AF and its work.
My introduction is complete and I am happy to share this video with all our readers (again: it comes with a big delay but the situation was out of our hands unfortunately to control)
