WHEN WOMEN RULE
MARCH 8
Every year, many countries celebrate International Women's Day with great pleasure. Some have an extra day off, some just get the opportunity and the reason to go out and celebrate. It is great. There is one more reason to be happy about this day: it is a chance to say a lot of good and pleasant words to your closest women (in case you do not do it daily). Thirdly, it is always a pleasure to receive gifts and flowers and IWD is one more reason for that occasion. There are some popular traditions of the favorite holiday of all women.
On March 8, it is customary to congratulate all the beautiful half of the population, without division into age and status. The smallest princesses, mothers and grandmothers receive gifts on this day. Flowers are considered the most traditional gift on International Women's Day. It is customary to free all women from household chores, work and other matters on this day. Caring men should boldly take matters into their own hands (we all wish it takes place but even one day per year is great enough)... Gifts that somehow remind women of work and household chores are considered bad form for March 8. For example: knives, plates, pans, pots etc. This day women should enjoy something good, and men can arrange a pleasant surprise for them.
A Bit Of History
The history of the funniest and most beautiful holiday has feminist and political roots. Back in 1901, on March 8, American housewives filled the streets of Chicago with overturned pots and pans. In this way, women in 1901 wanted to attract the attention of society and government. They demanded that they should be treated with respect and perceived as independent individuals. Women wanted equality in political laws, respect for themselves, the opportunity to work in industry and serve in the army. Seven years later, feminists repeated their demands, but on a larger scale. After that, National Women's Day was proclaimed in the United States.
German communist Clara Zetkin is considered to be the parent of International Women's Day. It was Clara, who made a huge contribution to defending women's rights. According to Clara Zetkin, International Women's Day will unite women around the world in the fight for women's rights.
United Nations adopted the celebration of International Women's Day in 1975. It just happened that March 8 became a women's day since women got tired of enduring an unequal and unfair attitude towards themselves and their work.
In some countries International Women's Day was included in the list of public holidays.
It is becoming a great tradition to celebrate International Women's Day in Melbourne. Urban Vegas Events company held an awards evening and a special event with women of Melbourne invited to share their achievements, inspirations, the keys and secrets of their success and to have great time socialising and making new contacts.
