SIERRA IN MELBOURNE CONCERT JUNE 2017

Sierra Boggess in Concert
Review by Bryanna Reynolds
“Sierra fills your heart with magic and love”
Broadway star Sierra Boggess performed at the renowned Hamer Hall in the Arts Centre complex along the banks of the Yarra River in Melbourne, Australia.
The venue was perfectly fitting for such a magical and inspiring woman to perform and let you slip into an alternate universe of dreaming and places you can only imagine through songs performed on broadway.
Sierra’s presence on stage is spellbinding, it takes you to the stage of a New York performance which was a wonderful feeling to have whilst sitting by a stage in Australia.
Performing across the world in musicals as Ariel in ‘The Little Mermaid’ and Christine Daae in Andrew Lloyd Webbers ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ Sierra brought her performances to life once again.
The moment Sierra spoke to the crowd for the first time, her bubbly personality resonated that of a friend and made you smile from cheek to cheek. I have never smiled so much during a musical performance.
It was through the charismatic and enchanting stories Sierra shared during the songs she performed during the night which brought everything together. There was a real sense of storytelling which tied it all together, unlike other musical performances.
Throughout the night songs from many Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals were sung including ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, ‘Evita’, ‘Love Never Dies’ & ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’.
A highlight of the night was the story of the time Sierra performed for the Queen at Andrew Lloyd Webbers castle set to the song ‘If my friends could see me now’ from ‘Sweet Charity’. A truly inspiring tale that showed persistence and hard work can bring your dreams to life.
Britney Spears also made her way into Sierra’s performance which had the crowd laughing out loud. In a rendition of ‘Think of Me’ from ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, Sierra perfected a Britney impersonation of the song down to a point, it was wonderful and a lovely party trick to have up your sleeve.
I cannot wait to see what Sierra gets up to next, fingers crossed she will grace our shores again with her sweet values and loving disposition for life and everything it has to offer. I would fly to New York tomorrow to see her next broadway hit in a heartbeat.
