The Melbourne fair is an event that collectors and treasure hunters must not miss.
The diversity of exhibitors is fascinating. There are nearly 50 different stalls with an eclectic collection of antique furniture, English ceramics, décor, lighting, prints and posters, vintage clothing and accessories. The Art deco and Art nouveau are the favourite styles. The antique is alongside the modern pieces with unusual craftsmanship.
Fashion lovers are given a special attention and an opportunity to view, admire, and even purchase rare designer pieces. There is an exhibition of designer clothing and two fashion parades, focusing on the ‘space age’ 60s. It was the era especially rich with fashion breakthroughs, and it is splendidly represented by Paco Rabanne, Pierre Cardin, Jean Patou and Emilio Pucci.
Jewellery is another huge area, equally represented by flea market nick knacks and costume jewellery as well as spectacular gold and diamond creations.
I love that it is such a treasure hunt, and anyone can find something unexpected and wonderful, just have the patience to look around. There are unique items with history – each can tell an interesting story.
I advise everybody to have a look at the website, put your name on a mailing list and be the lucky one who will get free tickets for the next year event.
